Stone Carving

Handcrafted from fieldstone found locally at the family homestead, each piece is individually chosen and tooled into a functional food safe vessel.

Aaron Day was born and raised in Holmes County. He is a self employed mason & a married father of four. All the stone you will see here is picked off field edges and pulled from the natural springs on his property.

Artist Statement: I enjoy creating with my hands, especially working with wood and stone. Creating something beautiful out of natural material is a joy, and I hope my work reflects that.

The first step begins with stone selection. Carefully analyzing grain, color, shape and density each stone is picked to display the most beauty, value, and function.

Once a stone is selected it is rough sawn and tooled to its basic shape. It is then sanded to reveal the natural beauty found within. The finishing process involves sealing the stone to protect it from stains and discoloring.

The Day family has a long and proud history in the Masonry field. With that experience comes a natural love for stone and the beauty that is held within. Carefully examine each piece and see the rough edges that appear exactly as they would on the field’s edge. Look at the different colors and materials that have been formed inside the stones. Notice the different materials present in each individual stone.

I hope you enjoy these stones and the beauty they will bring to your home.
