Dawn of a New Day

During my illness I didn’t have the strength to drive my own buggy or care for my own horse, therefore, transportation to church and evenings socials was provided by a dear friend and his horse Krista Belle. My friend and I rode many miles together behind his ‘fine filly’. Riding behind her through my darkened times, her hoofbeats were like music to my ears. Through the years she found her way into our hearts and became a part of us, so drawing her sweet face came as naturally as breathing.

The deep tones and quiet atmosphere in her stall reflect the trail that led through the dark storms of life the three of us traveled together. The dark night is now receding as she gazes out her window toward the breaking dawn… the golden dawn of renewed hope and strength… returned health and vitality… and the important chapter in our lives that has metaphorically taken place in Morning Majesty

This work feels like a symbol of our experience of transition, from dark to light, from sadness to joy, from the past to the present.

The close friendship with my friend and his horse is a deep companionship words fail to express. My feeling of our partnership flowed from the point of my pencil in a way that would not have escaped otherwise. I hope just even a small measure may be obvious to my viewers.
